Every organisation’s Strategy Journey is unique, but the goals are similar - to make sense of situations, directions and destinations, and articulate these to help people develop a shared understanding that is vital for strategy to be effective.

People and processes are at the heart of what I do and helping people and organisations learn and develop has always been one of my personal drivers.

1. Developing Effective Strategic Plans

A Strategy Journey starts with people talking and listening to achieve a common understanding of the challenges at hand, and how they are going to work together to answer the questions:

  • Where are we now?
  • Where do we want to go?
  • How do we get there?
  • How do we make it happen?

2. Implementing Strategic Initiatives

Implementing a strategic plan can be challenging but for me, implementation is a core part of the process. Strategic plans must be brought to life, not left inside a glossy brochure.

I work closely with the skills and resources within the organisation to:

  • Plan how they will make changes happen and monitor progress.
  • Drive forward specific initiatives.
  • Contribute expertise, techniques and tools for practical execution.

3. Strengthening Strategic Capabilities

Organisations need to build their strategic capabilities to be ready to adapt quickly to change and uncertainty.

I help them strengthen the three strategic capabilities they need to adopt a more flexible, dynamic approach to developing and implementing strategy:

  • Strategic thinking – helping individuals and teams develop and practice the skills to contribute to their organisation’s strategy.
  • Strategic management – establishing the processes to enable the organisation to continually develop, implement and monitor its strategy.
  • Strategic leadership – coaching or mentoring individuals to help them develop the people and process aspects of strategy development and implementation.

4. Resilience Through Learning

Strategy Journeys are not just about strategic plans. Learning is an important outcome often overlooked, but one that strengthens the strategic capabilities of the organisation.

I believe transferring my own knowledge to the people within the organisation is a key factor in ongoing strategic resilience, through:

  • Talks, seminars, webinars
  • Workshops
  • Tailored development programmes for individuals or teams
